Curriculum Overview
In this course, we will begin the year with the following 7th grade concepts:
-operations with rational numbers and working with expressions and linear equations
-solving problems involving scale drawings and informal geometric constructions, and working with 2D and 3D shapes to solve problems involving area, surface area, and volume
-drawing inferences about populations based on samples.
We will then move into the 8th grade curriculum including the following concepts:
- formulate and reason about expressions and equations, including writing and solving linear equations and systems of linear equations
- define and grasp the concept of a function and using functions to describe quantitative relationships
- analyze 2D and 3D figures using distance, angle, similarity, and congruence through translations, reflections, rotations, and dilations
- understand and apply the Pythagorean Theorem
